SUMMER OF COMMISSIONS
In the land of “eternal summer”, the concept of “seasons” applies a bit differently and it is directly correlated to how many tourists visit, not so much the weather and climate patterns. When you live in a place where people go to vacation, your work life tends to revolve around foot traffic trends and what is happening in town.
Summer season is predictably slow in the sunshine state, especially in South Florida. The rest of the nation is embracing warm weather and related activities to the fullest; while we tend to enjoy the beach more or spend quality time with family since it’s not that busy. After all, it is important to recharge the mind, soul and to remember the reason why we live where we do.
This summer, Katlin and I embraced the true Floridian lifestyle by going to the beach after our gallery shifts (on a weekly basis) and caught countless sunsets that stretched well past 8pm. Like true Libras, the balance between work and play defines our lifestyle and it cannot be more evident this last few months.
Katlin has been working on commissions all summer long. These commissioned works of art range from custom oil paintings on stretched canvas to paintings on Moab paper and even custom painted vases, she even did several commissioned murals! For her, it is so fulfilling as an artist to be able to create an artwork that is specific to a collector or a space. Some of those commissions were very special gifts (such as surprise birthday presents) to loved ones or finally filling wall spaces that have been blank for years. Some paintings were created with the idea to bring a piece of the tropics across the country or simply bringing that color and flora inside a local commercial space.
Needless to say, we are blessed to be in the place we are and could not have done it without you. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our collectors, enthusiast and fans for your constant support and for collecting our work for your homes or offices, it means the world to us! We look forward to seeing you all in either one of our locations here in Cayo Hueso (Key West) this season.
